Pest Control Service Areas in Hampton Roads

Hampton Roads is not one place. Our coverage is 11 localities and 105 named neighborhoods across South Hampton Roads, the Virginia Peninsula, and Isle of Wight County — each with its own soil, water table, and housing stock. That is why a Guardex quote is built from the address, not a zip-code average.

Coverage in detail

Why the map matters more than the zip code

Every Guardex route is built around the actual geology and housing stock underneath it, not a radius drawn on a map. The coastal plain that runs from the Oceanfront through Norfolk and up the Peninsula to Newport News and Hampton sits on sandy, poorly drained soil with a water table that can be a few feet from the surface almost anywhere. That single fact drives most of what we see: constant subterranean termite pressure, chronic crawl space humidity, and moisture-loving invaders like camel crickets and oriental cockroaches that show up the moment humidity crosses the line.

But the details differ block to block. Virginia Beach spans everything from Sandbridge pilings to slab subdivisions in the western part of the city. Chesapeake runs from dense South Norfolk rowhouses to new Grassfield construction at the edge of the Great Dismal Swamp. Norfolk carries the region's confirmed Formosan subterranean termite exposure tied to port shipping traffic, while Portsmouth holds some of the oldest sill plates and band joists in the state inside Olde Towne. Head north onto the Virginia Peninsula and military turnover in Newport News and Hampton keeps WDI report volume high year-round, and Poquoson sits low enough in the marsh that salt-water mosquitoes are a defining seasonal problem rather than a nuisance. West into Isle of Wight County, Smithfield, and Carrollton, timber, farmland, and James River waterfront replace port and military pressure with rodent activity around outbuildings and termite exposure in historic framing.

We treat that variation as data, not trivia. Technicians working termite treatment, crawl space encapsulation, quarterly pest control, or structural wood repair in a given city already know the foundation era, the typical vent spacing, and the drainage failures common to that street before they open the crawl space door. That is the advantage of running a fixed, name-checked route instead of dispatching whoever is closest.

Every locality below links to its own page with facts, FAQs, service links, and neighborhood coverage, and every neighborhood has its own page as well. If your street is not listed, it is very likely still on a route — send us the address and we will tell you plainly.

Field notes

Pest pressure across the footprint

These species drive the majority of Guardex service calls region-wide. Each has its own page with identification detail, seasonality, and a locality-specific version for every city we cover.

American Cockroach

Periplaneta americana

Identification

Up to two inches, reddish-brown with a pale figure-eight marking behind the head. Usually seen singly, at night, in bathrooms, basements, and near floor drains.

Why it is here

They live in sewers, storm drains, and damp crawl spaces and enter through plumbing penetrations and defective sewer lines. Older municipal infrastructure across Norfolk and Portsmouth keeps populations high.
